We have finished the Cuba order a few months ahead of our December deadline and it’s all thanks to these amazing women (including some who couldn’t be in the picture). Our University of Pittsburgh Student Intern, Rachel, kept the collection point running while I was away on sabbatical and our “big team” kept checking in with her weekly to ensure we had the components we needed. I’m grateful for their incredible dedication to our task, their insights and wisdom, and most of all the love and support we find together.
Our kits will be shipped with Global Links and distributed through their medical centers in Cuba in the coming year. We are thrilled to partner with them again and look forward to working with them in the future.

Now that this projected has wrapped up, the Pittsburgh Collection Point will be looking for a new home. We cannot accept new components until we have our new location. We are hoping to find a 1,500- 2,000 square foot space in the Pittsburgh area to use for the collection point. As a collection point, inventory is always coming in, so we need a space to process that, store components until they can be packed, and space to hold those kits until they can be shipped out. And we would love to have a work room where we can continue to sew and repair components and hold big packing events. We need to be on a first floor or have easy access to an elevator so that we can move components (and people) easily. Ideally, we would be looking for a space with an organization that could donate the space to us or another non-profit that would not need a lot from us as far as rent but would be willing to build a mutually beneficial relationship in shared space.
