You may remember that we sent kits to Cuba with Global Links in September and we can report that all our kits have arrived in Cuba, and they are thrilled with them. After we filled the 2023 order for Global Links, we continued to fill other orders and ship inventory to other collection points and teams to help fill their orders. We were thrilled to help and to lower our inventory so we had less to move.
On moving day, we also dropped off kits to Global Links to get started on the 2024 order.
Now that we are settled into our new location, we are in need of all of the DfG components, especially women’s small and medium underwear.

We have a new order from our friends at Global Links
for 10,000 kits that will be distributed it Cuba in 2024.
We hope you can help us.

This announcement was sent out to our new friends at FUMC:
Greetings Friends!
We are “sew” excited to be moving in with you!!!
The Days for Girls Mission is simple: creating a more dignified, free and educated world through access to lasting menstrual health. Their tagline is: Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.
The Days for Girls Pittsburgh Chapter is made up of community volunteers, women from the CCC house, and college students. In addition to the DfG mission, we consider it our mission to build relationships with those volunteering with us. We hope that soon that will include some members of FUMC.
We have an order for fill for Global Links for 10,000 kits by the end of 2024. Many DfG teams from around the USA will be sending us components to complete this order. Each standard Days for Girls washable kit includes: 2 waterproof shields, 8 liners, 2 panties, 1 carry pouch, a 100% cotton wash cloth, a small bar of soap, and an ovulation chart and directions, all packaged in a drawstring bag. Those are the things you can see. What you might not notice immediately is that those kits also contain: dignity, education, and independence. These kits and their accompanying education can lift entire communities out of poverty.
To complete these orders we fundraise, request items on our Amazon wish list, and hope to collect JoAnn Fabric Gift cards to purchase supplies.
We are packing up in our current location and will be moving into the Wesley Quad slowly over the next month. Once we are settled, we hope to welcome new volunteers to work with us and to shop with us. We will be watching the sale flyers and will let you know when you can join us at Joann’s to learn about how we choose fabric and of course to shop. We will keep you posted about those opportunities as they arise.
For now, you can check out our Facebook and Instagram @pgh_dfgchapter
Karie Charlton is our chapter leader. You can check out her blog, Period Pastor or follow her on Facebook or Instagram @periodpastor. Karie is ordained in the PCUSA but currently isn’t serving a church.
Thank you again for the opportunity. We look forward to meeting you!

I want to thank the incredible team that got us moved:
The Third Church Staff, Barbaros, Patrick, and Susan
The First United Methodist Church Staff, Gwendolyn, Nelson, and Tracy
Global Links: Robin who stayed a little passed closing time to get our kits on moving day
My co-leaders, Carrie and Constance, and our fearless team
Our student interns: Bennett, Natalie, Nicole, Rachel, and Sage
Our family and friends who brought snacks and loaded their cars
Our “big team” whose love and support got us through. We are stronger together.
