Psalm 119:105 – 112

Psalm 119

Yes, your Truth is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
You give me strength as I descend into the inner sanctum,
to uncover the hidden blessings, to seek the treasures of the Spirit.
When I am filled with fear, I meditate upon your Light.
I yearn to have every doubt and fear quelled and transformed;
O, Heart of all hearts, bless me with your healing Light,
that I may be a loving presence.
Though the ignorant lay snares for me, let me not stray from You.
Your Word is my heritage forever; yes, it is the joy of my heart.
I shall open my heart’s ear to converse with You forever, to the end.

Reflection:

God’s word is a lamp to light the path. The psalmist is not living in bright sunlight, there is darkness all around, and she needs just a little light for her feet, so she does not trip and fall. It’s just enough. Enough to keep going even when surrounded by doubt and fear.

This word is her heritage, her portion, her home in God; and it is just enough. Enough to survive, enough to open her heart, and enough to have just a little hope for the journey. God’s word is enough to bring hope and joy.
