Psalm 15 (2025-2026A)

O Beloved, You invite us to rest in the abode of your Heart,
to forgive our weaknesses and renew our love.
Who will respond with hearts opened wide to Love?
Those who walk with integrity, who are in harmony with your Word,
and sing the heart’s song;
Whose tongues speak truth judging not others and seeking only the good;
Whose eyes behold not the outer garment of the body,
but see within the inner robe of Love;
Whose own weaknesses are acknowledged and brought to light in prayer;
Those who are just in all affairs of life and take not advantage of another.
Those who dwell in the Heart of Love, who act justly, with integrity,
will join the Dance of Life, will sing the Songs of Joy!
Their family, friends and, indeed, the world will be blessed by their love.

Psalm 15

Reflection:

We enter God’s presence with open hearts knowing God will shape us into the righteous. If we consent to God’s action in our lives, we will be made new; renewed to be co-creators of shalom in our homes, our community, and the world. God’s righteousness will always stand firm.

Loving God, awaken the sacred within me. I consent to your presence and action in my life. Cleanse my heart. I want to abide in your love. Help me to stand firm. I know that Love is the way, help me to always choose love.

Psalm 15 Year B 2020-2021

I began writing Psalm reflections during Lent of 2020.  Shortly after, we decided to close the church building, work from home, and worship via zoom. Many churches use the Revised Common Lectionary (RLC) that rotates scripture on a three-year cycle (A, B, and C).  Starting in Advent 2019, the church decided to worship with the texts from Year D, which is still not circulated as are years A, B, and C.  Year D was created with the goal of including scriptures that were left out or not used as frequently as others.  While we were using Psalms in year D, most other lectionary followers were using Year A.  In Advent of 2020 we rejoined those who use the lectionary in year B.  Advent of 2021 year C.  When we returned to in person worship, we took the psalm reflections out of the order of worship.  I continued to write them for the blog.  Advent of 2022 year A.  I left church work in July of 2023 but continued the practice of writing psalm reflections.  Advent of 2023 year B.  Advent of 2024 year C.  I finished year C early, so I began work on psalms I missed: Psalm 119,  Year D and others not in the lectionary.  By the end of 2025, I have written a reflection for each psalm.

In Psalm 15, verses 2-5a answer the question of verse 1. The substance of verses 2-5a is that a torah keeper, a genuinely righteous person is one who is permitted to enter the shrine and enjoy God’s presence.
