Bolivia Project with Global Links and Days for Girls

At the end of last year, Global Links distributed Days for Girls kits to Bolivia.  They were so well received we, Pastor Karie (Pittsburgh Chapter DfG), Veronica (Global Links) and Katy (DfGI) have been working together to hopefully get thousands of kits to Bolivia in the next year.

Karina (Global Link’s International Consultant) delivered the kits to 5 municipalities in the Andean region of Bolivia. DfG washable pads are always paired with comprehensive menstrual health education – for people with periods, families, and entire communities.

In the photos Global Links provided, you can see the training for the health professionals of these municipalities, who, when they return to their community, will be able to carry out these workshops while delivering the kits. The green chairs and tables are part of one of the Global Links donations. The other photos show the workshops carried out with women, girls, and adolescents from one of the indigenous communities in which we have worked.

As we prepare kits for the Global Links summer shipments, we are connecting with other DfG teams in our area to have workdays together at Third Church.  And we have begun talking to Lisa (Literacy Pittsburgh) to see if her students would like to volunteer and practice their English.  A few students are in town for the summer but we won’t have big groups of student volunteers until fall so we will need more help from other groups this summer. We would love for you to join us too!

Here is the information for volunteering:

  • Volunteers must be vaccinated.
  • Bring your own lunch and water bottle.
  • Drop in on Wednesdays 10am to 2pm (other times by appointment)
  • Contact Pittsburgh@daysforgirls.org for more information
Most needed items: Women’s sizes small and medium underwear.
You can find them on our amazon wish list
Wish list items can be shipped directly to Third Church

You may make a monetary donation to The Pittsburgh Chapter or to Days for Girls International

Days for Girls Teams: This project is going from the Pittsburgh Collection Point only. We need standard and heavy flow components for this project. When you send components, please send everything flat, meaning don’t fold liners or snap shields. This makes our checking process move much faster and every minute counts with this quick turnaround. If you choose to send care and use cards, send them in Spanish. Thank you to everyone who has been sending components year-round! Your efforts have helped us continue to be prepared for emergencies or quick turnaround projects like this one.
