Here is the update on Sending Menstrual Pads to Ukraine.
Together with Global Empowerment Mission we [DfG] will be providing menstrual product options to women and girls affected by the situation in Ukraine.
Most people know DfG makes menstrual kits that meet washable standards so hearing that we are also putting disposables in our kits was a little confusing. We are committed to serving people with periods by giving them access to products that work for them. For many, that means washable pads but for others, washable isn’t always going to work. “When working with Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), especially in acute immediate crises such as what is taking place in Ukraine, providing menstrual product options is important. Circumstances differ and can change hourly. Being on the move means access to water, soap, washing and drying facilities or privacy may not be available. For this reason, the needs of refugees and IDPs will be best met by supplying disposables and Hybrid Kits (a customized Kit that includes both washable and disposable options). These options provide choice, flexibility, and both short and long term options as individuals’ circumstances change.” (This is the explanation of why we are sending disposable in addition to washable pad from the Days for Girls official announcement of the project.) This means we will be sending Days for Girls washable kits (2 shields, 8 liners, carry pouch, washcloth, underwear, soap, ovulation chart/instructions, drawstring bag) and disposable pads. This allows kit recipients to have disposables while they are on the move and washables for when they arrive in a more stable living situation.
It’s easy to help online: Make a monetary donation to The Pittsburgh Chapter or to Days for Girls International or purchase needed materials from the Pittsburgh’s amazon wish list. Wish list items can be shipped directly to Third Church.

With all that we have collected and with the emails/phone calls/messages pledging items we have nearly met our kit goal and we are halfway to meeting our disposable pad goal.
Donations must be received by March 25th so that we can meet our shipping date.
