Bolivia Project Up-date

We have been “sew” busy since Global Links requested more kits.  Check out the project start here:  Bolivia Project with Global Links and Days for Girls  Since then, the Pittsburgh chapter has sent shipments to Global Links in July and August and we hope to send more kits this fall.  All of these kits will be sent to Bolivia.  And our hope is to support other kit distributions with Global Links after the kit order for Bolivia is filled.

The Pittsburgh Chapter and the Pittsburgh North team helped to get the first shipment out for Global Links
Another group of kits were sent to Global Links in August

Here is the official project announcement from DfG:

Dear USA Chapters and Teams,

Thank you for sending your components and Kits to the Collection Points throughout the year.  Because of your efforts and continued sewing we have been able to develop an incredible long-term partnership with Global Links.

Global Links works to increase access to healthcare in many rural communities, including in Bolivia.  They also strengthen health institutions in the Amazonian and Andean Region so that the quality of health services is increased.

Using the components and supplies sent into the USA Collection Points in 2021, DfG USA Chapters and Teams were able to send 3100 DfG Kits to Bolivia with Global Links! Global Links then distributed them with the Ambassador of Women’s Health education.

Global Links recently reached out and requested 10,000 additional Kits to send to Bolivia!  Because you have been continuously sending components to Collection Points, we were ready to get started!  We have begun sending DfG Kits and are excited to continue to fill this order.

At this time our USA Collection Points need some additional supplies to finish this order so Global Links can continue distributing in Bolivia.

Here are the details for supporting the Pittsburgh Collection Point.

Days for Girls Teams:  We need standard and heavy flow sewn components for this project. When you send components, please send everything flat, meaning don’t fold liners or snap shields. This makes our checking process move much faster and every minute counts with this quick turnaround. If you choose to send care and use cards, send them in Spanish. Thank you to everyone who has been sending components year-round! Your efforts have helped us continue to be prepared for emergencies or quick turnaround projects like this one.

If you want to volunteer with the Pittsburgh Chapter, here is the information for volunteering:

  • Volunteers must be vaccinated.
  • Bring your own lunch and water bottle.
  • Drop in on Wednesdays 10am to 2pm (other times by appointment)
  • Contact Pittsburgh@daysforgirls.org for more information

Most needed items: Women’s sizes small and medium underwear.

You can find them on our amazon wish list

Wish list items can be shipped directly to Third Church

You may make a monetary donation to The Pittsburgh Chapter or to Days for Girls International

Carrie, Kerry, and Karie…. thanks to Kerry who came in from Solon OH twice already to help with the Bolivia Project!
The Grove City PA team helped us pack up more kits yesterday to be sent to Global Links very soon!

We are “sew” thankful for the DfG teams that have come to support our team in this project: Canton OH, Grove City PA, Oakdale PA, Pittsburgh North PA, and Solon OH. If your DfG team wants to make a trip to Pittsburgh send us an email so we can start planning your visit.

And we are “sew” grateful to all the teams/chapters who send us components year round so that we can respond quickly to humanitarian efforts and support long term partnerships like the one we have with Global Links.
