Days for Girls works to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation so that women and girls have improved health, education and livelihoods. To date, we have reached over 3.5 million women and girls with our life-changing menstrual health solutions.
Each standard Days for Girls washable kit includes: 2 waterproof shields, 8 liners, 2 panties, 1 carry pouch, a 100% cotton wash cloth, a small bar of soap, and an ovulation chart and directions, all packaged in a drawstring bag. Those are the things you can see. What you might not notice immediately is that those kits also contain: dignity, education, and independence. These kits and their accompanying education can lift entire communities out of poverty.
To complete menstrual health kits we fundraise to purchase supplies. You can send us monetary donations through: Grove City PA Team’s team fundraising page for Days for Girls International as well as sending needed items directly to us through our Grove City DfG Amazon wish list.

In the summer months, members of our team distributes washable kits, Smart Packs, menstrual cups, and disposable products on Wednesdays from noon till 2 pm at Grove City YMCA! These products are available free for anyone who wants to try a sustainable solution! Use the arena entrance, please.
We love working alongside Amber Fitch, the Grove City Area School District social worker! She helps coordinate food distributions and provides amazing assistance for students and their families. July 29th marked the last Grove City YMCA Summer Food Distribution, where we also distribute period products, for this year. Karyn Senita, the amazing advisor for GCHS Global Scholars and Interact which works hard to help our team, volunteered there yesterday—-our team co-leader Mary was excited to see her! You can still get Days for Girls kits, menstrual cups, and other period products in the period pantry at Grove City Community Library, PA.
We are thrilled that Lilly volunteers at our sewing days and summer distributions. Check out all of the other volunteer work she does at Lilly’s Pageant Page. She is an inspiration and we are “sew”proud of her.
In June, Craig Campbell, mission team chair of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Sharon, Pa, picked up 160 DfG kits and a Spanish Flipchart. In July, he gave the kits and the flip chart to a local leader of the Mexican orphanage his church supports.
We received a generous donation from the Grove City Knights of Columbus in July. Their delicious Strawberry Days hot sausage sandwiches and Lenten Fish Frys help fund community nonprofits like our team! Thanks to the Knights for your hard work, that helps to support our hard work!

Partnership with the Mercer County Food Bank for the 2026-2027 School Year
The Mercer County Food Bank and Grove City Days for Girls are partnering this year to make DfG kits available at every student food pantry in the county. We hope, with your help, we can supply them with kits and cups.
Grove City DfG team representatives, Christine Opitz and Ruth Magee met with Bailey Shepherd, Strategic Partnerships and Programs Manager at the Mercer County Food Bank, to see how we can better support Mercer County Schools. Baily reported that are 10,000 students in our county’s school districts and 7000 of them accessed a student food pantry last year. These students will also benefit from having access to sustainable menstrual products and education, especially since far more girls than boys access their school’s pantries.
Before the start of each school year, Bailey meets with the school district representatives who coordinate their school’s pantry. At this year’s meeting on August 7, district representatives will see a video about our kits. In turn, at the beginning of the school year, each district must provide the student body with education about the school food pantry and students take a tour of their school’s pantry. Students will view the DfG video at the same time they learn more about the food pantry at their school.
The Food Bank is asking for 4,000 kits over the course of the coming school year, with the first shipment of 1,200 kits and 300 cups due the third week in August. After that, we will supply more kits to replenish the supply every 6-8 weeks.

Collection Point Closes and Volunteers join other sewing teams (February 2026) This post includes the history of the PA Collection Point. The Pittsburgh PA DfG team began in 2015 and expanded to become the PA Collection Point in 2018. In 2022, the Collection Point and Pittsburgh team had to find a new building which led to them separating in 2023, at which time the PA Collection Point moved to Grove City while the sewing team stayed in Pittsburgh.
